I’m Not the Bigger Person. I’m the Better Person.

I’m Not the Bigger Person. I’m the Better Person.

I used to swallow the classic advice: “Just be the bigger person.”

I spent a lifetime carrying a mountain of fear, strictly following a rules - aggressively imposed on me. I kept my head down, played nice, and checked every box because I genuinely believed that following the rules was my golden ticket.

But guess what? Nobody else is following them.

It is wild to look back and realize how much energy I wasting policing myself while everyone else did whatever they wanted. The hypocrisy is everywhere, and sometimes it's a total comedy. I once met a religious leader who bent the rules to his absolute convenience, all while walking around acting holier than God Himself. But that’s the thing about hypocrites - they don't think they're hypocrites. They genuinely believe there is absolutely nothing wrong with them.

Trying to accommodate people like that is a losing battle. So, I had a massive change: if refusing to be a doormat makes me a problem, then I am a problem.

And guess what? I’m going to keep being a problem.

Dropping the "bigger person" act is incredibly liberating. It’s actually fun. For the first time, I am prioritizing my own peace over the comfort of people who never cared about mine.

People love to weaponize "be the bigger person" because they want you to quietly accept their bad behavior. They expect you to protect their feelings while they actively trample yours. But who am I actually hurting by choosing myself? Maybe a few fragile feelings and they’ll get over it - cause they certainly didn’t spare mine.

I am completely done shrinking myself to keep a fake peace. I am not the bigger person anymore. I’m the better person and done with the double standards.

I’m finished playing a rigged game.
