If you’ve noticed that my responses are shorter, my availability is non-existent, and my vibe toward you has shifted from "open door" to "who tf is you," congratulations on your powers of observation. You are correct … I have completely changed the way I handle you.
Why? Because I took a long hard look and realized I was accidentally running a full-time, unpaid adult daycare.
And consequently, I spotted a trait in you that is a direct liability to my sanity. Somewhere along the line, I became responsible for teaching a fully grown adult basic life skills - like how accountability works, why actions have consequences, and how to communicate without throwing the emotional equivalent of a toddler tantrum.
So here’s the thing: I don’t have time for BS. Therefore I do not have the bandwidth to teach you how to operate yours.
And no, you don’t need to schedule a meeting with me to review these changes. This isn't a performance evaluation where we negotiate your terms. My new boundary doesn’t require your signature, your permission, or even your understanding. It really doesn’t have to make sense to you at all.
It just is what it is. The position of "Patient Teacher of Basic Maturity" has been permanently eliminated due to budget cuts. The budget being my peace of mind.
